Get A Grip Of Your EOAT This June

EOAT (End of Arm Tooling) refers to the tools and/or devices attached to the end of a robotic arm in an injection moulding cell. Depending on the application, it may be made up of grippers, suction cups, sprue pickers, or custom fingers that conform to the shape of the product being produced. These tools are often completely custom built and can be easily easily adjusted, modified, or swapped out for different applications due to the modular construction.

EOAT systems can also integrate sensors for part presence detection, vacuum confirmation, or even visual inspection. These capabilities help improve automation by providing live, real-time feedback to the robot controller, enhancing process reliability.

Benefits of EOAT in Injection Moulding

Speed and Efficiency:
By automating the part removal process, EOAT significantly reduces cycle time. Robots equipped with EOAT can consistently and rapidly remove parts from moulds and transfer them to conveyors, inspection stations, or assembly lines, minimising downtime and increasing overall output.

Consistent Quality and Precision:
Human error in manual part removal can lead to part deformation, scuffing, or incorrect handling. EOAT ensures parts are handled the same way every time, protecting product quality and maintaining tight tolerances.

Employee Optimisation:
Using EOAT reduces the need for repetitive manual work and helps meet production needs without needing to increase employee count.

Types of EOAT

  • Grippers: Available in pneumatic, electric, or vacuum-operated versions. Parallel grippers and angular grippers are commonly used, depending on part shape and space constraints.

  • Vacuum Cups: Ideal for flat or smooth surfaces where a vacuum can form a secure grip.

  • Sprue Pickers: Designed specifically to remove the sprue or runner system after moulding, aiding in automation and material recovery.

  • Custom Tooling: For complex parts, custom fingers or form-fitting tools ensure precise handling and positioning.

At Mouldshop we offer a wide catalogue of EOAT products allowing you to configure your build to the exacting specification required. Our catalogue of parts are all able to be integrated with your existing set-up and are compatible with most EOAT manafacturers. We also offer pre-configured Robot Starter Kits to help you get your automation up and running quickly by including common components such as grippers, vacuum cups, profiles, and connectors.
