Efficient drying is essential in order to maintain a stable process and avoid problems with appearance and physical properties; too much moisture in plastic granules can cause typical problems such as splaying, formation of flash and reduced mechanical properties such as reduced impact and tensile strength.
Desiccant may be contaminated by the gases given off when drying certain resins, the gases can block the pores and affect performance, desiccant should be changed at least every 2 years to maintain efficiency, This will reduce drying time and improve product quality.
